Director, Electric Utilities

Location: Remote from the United States, based in Denver, Colorado, or within one hour of a STACK site in Dallas, Chicago, New Albany, San Francisco, Virginia, or Atlanta. Travel: 10–20%. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Salary: $209,300–$234,600 per year.

What you will do

• Manage load-interconnection processes and act as the primary utility contact for data center projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with utilities, RTOs/ISOs, consultants, vendors, and other external stakeholders.
• Review interconnection requests, utility studies, contracts, planning processes, cost-allocation principles, and transmission constraints.
• Assess potential data center sites and power-delivery timelines, identify alternative transmission solutions, and support project due diligence.
• Forecast utility budgets, support leasing and business-case development, and prepare recommendations for leadership approval.
• Improve internal workflows and collaborate with energy, policy, preconstruction, supply chain, design and engineering, sales, legal, and tax teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in the energy industry, including utility, consulting, or renewable energy experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
• Experience with utility load-interconnection processes, transmission needs, and external relationship management.
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, detail-oriented, and creative-thinking skills.
• Ability to create and implement processes, prioritize multiple projects, and work independently.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office product suite and ability to pass a comprehensive background screening.
