TL;DR
Director, Power Generation Strategy, NA (Nuclear/SMR) (Power Generation, IPP Partnerships, and Nuclear/SMR): Developing scalable on-site and behind-the-meter power generation strategies for large-scale data center developments with an accent on technology evaluation, equipment strategy, IPP partnerships, and speed-to-power. Focus on structuring generation partnerships, assessing nuclear and SMR viability, evaluating feasibility and risk, and informing executive investment and prioritization decisions.

Location: Remote in the United States, or based in Denver, Phoenix, Santa Clara, or Ashburn, United States. Travel is expected to be up to 25–30%.

Salary: $215,000–$225,000 annual base salary plus bonus. Compensation may vary by location and experience.

What you will do

  • Lead on-site and behind-the-meter power generation strategies that accelerate speed-to-power when utility capacity or timelines are constrained.
  • Own strategy across IPP partnerships, generation procurement, generation technology, and nuclear and SMR solutions.
  • Evaluate natural gas, fuel cells, battery energy storage systems, and emerging nuclear and SMR technologies based on feasibility, cost, scalability, and delivery timelines.
  • Define long-lead equipment requirements and partner with Procurement on sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing.
  • Structure partnerships with IPPs, behind-the-meter developers, and generation providers, including commercial models and risk allocation.
  • Present generation feasibility, cost, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to executive leadership and support investment decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Economics, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in power generation, IPP or behind-the-meter development, energy project development, or power infrastructure.
  • Experience with IPPs, behind-the-meter generation developers, natural gas facilities, generation OEMs or EPCs, utilities, or infrastructure supporting data centers or other large-load environments.
  • Strong knowledge of generation technologies, equipment supply chains, permitting, and interconnection concepts, including gas turbines or reciprocating engines, fuel cells, BESS, and nuclear or SMR technologies.
  • Experience structuring and negotiating PPAs, tolling, capacity, or behind-the-meter agreements, with familiarity in project finance, commercial modeling, and risk allocation.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, translate technical inputs into business insights, and deliver outcomes in complex cross-functional environments without direct authority.
