Development Engineer (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Moorpark, California, United States; full-time on-site role

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional teams through the design, development, qualification, and production transition of mechanical and energetic systems.
• Translate integrated project schedules into actionable engineering work, track dependencies and action items, and remove execution roadblocks.
• Coordinate customer deliverables, design reviews, test events, hardware builds, qualification activities, and recovery plans.
• Generate, allocate, and verify product requirements while ensuring compliance with customer and government or military specifications.
• Develop technical data packages using design trade studies, tolerance analyses, hand calculations, and risk-mitigation planning.
• Plan and oversee Development Verification Testing, collaborate with suppliers and customers, and support transition into production with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in project engineering, product development, or technical program leadership, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading multifunctional technical teams and managing detailed project schedules to milestones.
• Knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, GD&T interpretation, tolerance analysis, 3D modeling, and 2D drawings; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Experience with product development and qualification testing, cost estimating, technical proposal support, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
• Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance and be able to work on U.S. DoD and ITAR-restricted products.
