Development Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Simsbury, Connecticut, United States; onsite, full-time

What you will do

• Lead internal and external technical projects from concept through development, qualification, and production.
• Develop and maintain technical data packages, 3D conceptual models, 2D drawings, and project documentation.
• Perform design trade studies, hand calculations, requirements allocation and verification, and technical risk assessments.
• Work with customers and suppliers on design interfaces, functional requirements, prototype parts, and risk-reduction testing.
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings and design reviews while coordinating technical tasks across project teams.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure production viability and secure internal and customer approval for technical documentation.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in engineering; mechanical or aerospace engineering is preferred.
• Experience in project, design, or related engineering work, including leadership of technical teams.
• Experience generating 3D models and 2D drawings; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Ability to interpret GD&T and apply customer requirements and government or military specifications to designs.
• Strong time management, problem-solving, root cause analysis, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of explosive materials, energetic devices, aerospace products, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with product testing, test requirements, procedures, shock, sinusoidal vibration, and random vibration.
• Experience with tolerance analysis, manufacturing inspection, system integration, MS Project, ANSYS, and SolidWorks.
