Purchasing Manager

Purchasing Manager (Supply Chain): Lead purchasing process improvements for a manufacturing site to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives with an accent on supplier management, cost reduction, inventory management, and continuity of supply. Focus on driving measurable purchasing KPIs, negotiating RFQ/RFP outcomes, and ensuring accurate ERP master data while supervising a purchasing team.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the purchasing team; create and implement site KPIs aligned with corporate KPIs.
• Own purchased-part SQDC performance and metrics (PPV, SOTD, SQAR).
• Approve purchase orders per company policy and negotiated/standard terms and conditions.
• Drive make-versus-buy analyses and recommendations to meet corporate and site objectives.
• Manage inventory levels to keep manufacturing schedules on track; maintain accurate part master data.
• Partner with Sourcing to run RFQ/RFP, negotiate pricing/payment/quality/delivery, and support supplier assessments and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Location: Must work on-site at the Hutchinson, Kansas location (Monday–Friday).
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience in supply chain operations with cross-functional leadership.
• Sourcing contract administration and negotiation experience.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems for purchasing; strong technical/analytical skills and process discipline.

Nice to have

• MBA and/or APICS/ISM certifications.
• Experience with Access and Data Warehouse.
