Senior Robotics Test Engineer

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite five days a week

Base salary: $176,000–$242,000 per year, with potential equity awards.

What you will do

• Design and build test infrastructure, including harnesses, fixtures, runners, orchestration, and test artifact management for a ZMQ and Cap'n Proto middleware stack.
• Build simulation infrastructure for deterministic playback of virtual autonomy scenarios and coverage of real-world conditions.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines covering unit, integration, simulation, and replay-based regression testing.
• Create log-replay infrastructure that converts production logs into reproducible test cases for QA curation and developer regression testing.
• Build cloud-based parallel simulation systems and dashboards for flaky tests, slow tests, and coverage gaps.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience, including significant work with testing infrastructure, developer tools, or distributed systems.
• Strong Python skills and experience writing production-adjacent infrastructure.
• Experience designing automation pipelines, CI/CD systems, test orchestration, or build systems.
• Familiarity with large-scale software platforms, APIs, abstractions, and platform usability.
• Strong debugging and systems-thinking skills across simulation, networking, serialization, and CI infrastructure.
• Comfort building greenfield systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other safety-critical systems.
• Experience with Gazebo, CARLA, Isaac Sim, or proprietary simulation environments.
• Familiarity with ZMQ, ROS, DDS, Cap'n Proto, or Protobuf.
• C++ familiarity, cloud infrastructure with AWS or GCP and Kubernetes, hardware-in-the-loop testing, real-time systems, or performance engineering.
