Experienced Staff Engineer (Geotechnical)

Location: St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States; onsite jobsite and office work

Salary: $73,000–$109,000 per year. Signing bonus of up to $5,000.

What you will do

• Conduct geotechnical site observations, construction inspections, field testing, and routine laboratory testing with limited oversight.
• Analyze and curate testing data, prepare project documentation, reports, proposals, and engineering recommendations.
• Manage small- to medium-sized, low- to moderate-complexity construction materials testing projects.
• Maintain client communication, build relationships, and anticipate client needs.
• Apply company and industry methods and standards to engineering analysis and problem-solving.
• Communicate safety requirements and instruct less experienced personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least two years of professional consulting experience, or two years of experience with an advanced degree.
• Current driver’s license and EIT certification required; ability to obtain PE licensure within 12–24 months.
• Clear verbal and written communication, data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical standards.
• Ability to work in loud outdoor jobsites, all weather conditions, enclosed areas, and uneven walking surfaces; limited travel of approximately 5–10% is required.
