AI Research & Innovation Lead

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States. Hybrid position requiring virtual work and in-person attendance at an assigned TU office for a minimum of two days per week.

Salary: $112,500–$187,500 annually. Eligible full-time non-sales positions may participate in the annual bonus plan; certain positions may also receive long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Lead exploratory AI research initiatives and assess emerging technologies for business applications.
• Investigate neuro-symbolic AI, reasoning systems, knowledge-enhanced machine learning, agentic AI, causal AI, explainable AI, and human-AI collaboration.
• Design, build, and evaluate proof-of-concepts and prototypes using modern cloud-based computing and AI infrastructure.
• Create repeatable frameworks to assess AI capabilities, limitations, risks, and business impact.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to transition successful research concepts into production-ready solutions.
• Represent hirify.global through publications, patents, and contributions to its long-term innovation strategy.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cognitive science, data science, applied mathematics, engineering, operations research, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 8+ years of professional experience in AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, or related quantitative fields.
• Strong knowledge of at least one relevant area, including knowledge representation and ontologies, knowledge graphs, graph neural networks, automated reasoning, search and planning, causal inference, probabilistic graphical models, explainable AI, or trustworthy AI.
• Advanced programming skills in Python and familiarity with modern AI development frameworks.
• Familiarity with consumer data, fraud detection, financial services, risk analytics, identity, or marketing applications.
