Technical Lead (Applied AI)

Location: Hybrid in Metro Detroit or the North Carolina Research Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill); remote flexibility is available, but the role is not fully remote. Travel to the Farmington Hills, MI office and US client sites is required when requested.

Base salary: $143,000–$185,000 annually, depending on experience, plus profit sharing.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise applications, data solutions, integrations, AI models, and AI agents.
• Design and build scalable applications, cloud services, APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging integrations, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Develop and train machine learning and deep learning models, including data modeling, feature engineering, custom metrics, and production integration.
• Build LLM-powered workflows and agentic systems using tools, APIs, databases, documents, enterprise platforms, function calling, MCP, RAG, and structured tool use.
• Architect orchestration for planning, task decomposition, memory, context management, execution loops, and human-in-the-loop review.
• Mentor engineers, guide design and code reviews, evaluate technologies, and collaborate with engineering teams, product leaders, domain experts, and client stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise applications, data or analytics solutions, and/or integration solutions.
• 1+ year of technical leadership experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, or Architect.
• 1+ year of experience developing AI agents and/or developing and training AI models.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• Experience with at least two areas including agentic AI, machine learning and deep learning, data and feature engineering, context engineering, LLM prompt engineering and fine-tuning, or AI evaluation and production readiness.
• Ability to work in the stated hybrid locations and travel to US offices and client sites when requested.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or minor in AI, Machine Learning, or Statistics.
• Experience with Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, MCP, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, or ChromaDB.
