TL;DR
Lead Metallurgist (Lithium): Developing and implementing metallurgical test programs, flowsheets, and operational readiness plans for a new lithium concentrator with an accent on dry-process control, ore sorting, DMS separation, and production forecasting. Focus on commissioning and optimizing concentrator operations, building assay laboratory and QA/QC systems, and achieving safe throughput and recovery targets.

What you will do

  • Lead metallurgical test programs, review historical and ongoing testing, interpret data, and support flowsheet design and feasibility studies.
  • Manage dry-process metallurgy from the run-of-mine pad through crushing, ore sorting, and dense media separation.
  • Develop metallurgical accounting, sampling strategies, flows characterization, geometallurgy programs, and process performance monitoring.
  • Support operational readiness, commissioning, ramp-up, operator training, standard operating procedures, and technical services planning.
  • Build and train the assay laboratory team, implement QA/QC processes, and oversee daily metallurgical balances, reporting, and production reconciliation.
  • Drive safe concentrator operation, asset efficiency, continuous improvement, budgeting, and post-commissioning research and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, mineral processing, or chemical engineering.
  • 10+ years of progressive metallurgical experience in mining or minerals processing, including at least 5 years in concentrator operations.
  • Experience designing and reviewing metallurgical test programs, developing flowsheets, selecting and sizing equipment, and optimizing processes through data analysis.
  • Experience starting up and commissioning equipment or facilities, including training staff and contractors on safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of mineralogy, ore characterization, geometallurgy, metallurgical accounting, concentrator automation, advanced process control, and MSHA safety regulations.
  • Leadership, project management, budgeting, communication, and continuous improvement experience, including Six Sigma or Lean Kaizen practices.

Nice to have

  • Lithium mineral processing experience.
  • Experience with remote operations centers.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as SysCAD or SimMet.
