TL;DR
Operator Lead (Industrial Plant Operations): Leading shift-level operations at a minerals processing facility with an accent on crew coordination, process equipment control, safety, and production documentation. Focus on responding to process upsets, coordinating maintenance, training operators, and supporting plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning activities.
Location: On-site at the Joaquin, Texas facility in East Texas

What you will do
- Lead and coordinate a small shift crew, assigning tasks and priorities across production areas.
- Conduct safety stand-downs and communicate operational priorities, hazards, and plant status.
- Monitor and control tanks, pumps, filter presses, reactors, dryers, and packaging equipment through HMI and manual checks.
- Direct truck loading and unloading, filter-press cleaning, product packaging, and routine plant activities.
- Respond to process upsets, coordinate with Maintenance and Process Engineering, and authorize lockout/tagout for repairs.
- Review production, quality, and shift data; coordinate maintenance; train operators; and support plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of plant or industrial operations experience; experience directing or leading a small team is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, standard operating procedures, and equipment manuals.
- Comfort working with industrial chemicals and process equipment while following safety protocols and using required PPE.
- Sound troubleshooting, record-keeping, documentation, and basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to work around chemicals, fumes, dust, varying weather conditions, and industrial equipment, including lifting at least 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Nice to have
- Manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial plant experience.
- Hydrometallurgy, mining, or battery-materials experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Skype, Visio, Adobe PDF, SharePoint, SAP, or Microsoft Project.
