Principal Solution Architect (Enterprise API Platform)

Location: Hybrid role requiring three days per week at a Guardian office in Holmdel, New Jersey; New York, New York; or Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Salary: $152,290–$250,195 annually, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Own enterprise solution architecture strategy, standards, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and architectural guardrails across platforms and domains.
• Lead complex, high-impact architecture decisions spanning multiple value streams and business units.
• Guide API modernization, API rationalization, lifecycle management, integration patterns, domain-aligned data models, and reimplementation priorities.
• Shape API, MCP gateway, and context-layer strategy to support discoverable, observable, governed APIs and AI-native enterprise capabilities.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Product, Platform, Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to align solutions with business strategy and regulatory requirements.
• Influence stakeholders without direct authority, mentor architects and engineers, and provide architecture guidance during major production incidents.

Requirements

• Deep experience designing and governing enterprise-scale solution architectures across multiple teams and domains.
• Experience modernizing API ecosystems, including API management, gateways, lifecycle platforms, integration, performance, scalability, and domain-aligned API design.
• Strong understanding of application architectures, APIs, cloud platforms, data flows, AI, MCP, agentic AI, context-layer architecture, observability, discoverability, governance, and security.
• Ability to balance business priorities, technical trade-offs, risk, pragmatic delivery, and long-term modernization strategy.
• Strong communication, stakeholder influence, technical documentation, and mentoring skills within Agile or product-based delivery models.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
