TL;DR
Supplier Development Engineer (Aerospace): Improving supplier capability, quality, delivery, and cost performance for electric aircraft components with an accent on composite manufacturing, supplier assessments, and production process development. Focus on analyzing supplier performance gaps, driving corrective actions, and coordinating technical improvements across purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.

Location: South Burlington, Vermont, United States; factory environment with 50%+ travel minimum

Salary: $95,000–$130,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Evaluate current and potential supplier capabilities, capacities, and manufacturing competencies for sourced parts.
  • Support supplier onboarding, approved supplier list qualification, rate readiness reviews, and supplier improvement plans.
  • Improve supplier delivery, quality, pricing, producibility, and manufacturing risk performance.
  • Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics, identify systemic gaps and root causes, and drive corrective actions.
  • Provide technical liaison support across purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, aftermarket, and suppliers.
  • Assist suppliers with production processes, procedures, equipment, tooling, layouts, and product development plans.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of composite manufacturing experience, including tooling concepts, layup, trim/drill, and NDI.
  • BA/BS degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
  • US Person status required.
  • Experience with Digital Product Definition, 2D drawings, drafting standards, and GD&T.
  • Direct experience in Lean or Manufacturing Engineering, with willingness to work in a factory environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel on short notice, with 50%+ travel required.

Nice to have

  • Experience leading aerospace operations or manufacturing teams.
  • Knowledge of manual or automated drilling, tooling, robotics, hardware, and aircraft structures, systems, or interiors.
  • Experience with ERP and manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of design for assembly, lean manufacturing, capacity planning, and manufacturing or quality process implementation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for flight.
