Aerospace Manufacturing Tool Designer

Location: Torrance, California, United States. U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $80,000–$88,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design manufacturing tooling, fixtures, jigs, templates, and related equipment for aerospace production and assembly.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and revision-controlled technical documentation.
• Support tooling concepts through design, fabrication, testing, implementation, and production use.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, production, quality, and operations teams to resolve tooling and process challenges.
• Review product designs and manufacturing requirements, conduct tolerance stack-up analyses, and evaluate manufacturability, functionality, and cost.
• Troubleshoot production issues and support tooling improvements, aerospace compliance, and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, mechanical design, drafting, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience designing manufacturing tooling, fixtures, or production equipment.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice to have

• 3–7 years of aerospace tooling design experience.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing, assembly, integration, or production environments.
• Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and aerospace manufacturing best practices.
• Experience with composite, metallic, or precision aerospace components and tolerance analysis.
• Experience supporting government or defense programs and lean manufacturing initiatives.
