Manager, Economic Development and Capital Formation

Location: Madison, Wisconsin, United States; remote work is available, with office time expected according to team needs.

Salary: $59,400–$236,800 annually, depending on skills, experience, qualifications, work arrangements, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Deliver economic analysis, development economics, urban planning, housing, equitable growth, and community development advisory work.
• Manage projects, timelines, budgets, invoices, work plans, status reporting, and client deliverables.
• Lead client relationships, understand client needs, and develop strategic recommendations.
• Guide research, written documents, presentations, memos, final reports, and engagement work papers.
• Support real estate transaction analysis, including due diligence, underwriting, and financial modeling.
• Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff while supporting business development and client acquisition.

Requirements

• Four-year degree.
• At least five years of professional experience; seven or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of real estate markets, development and redevelopment, zoning regulations, tax implications, and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, technical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, collaboration, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling software.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, work extended hours, and travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, real estate, urban planning, or finance.
• Relevant master’s degree.
• Experience in applied economic analysis using tools and data sources such as ESRI Business Analyst, PolicyMap, CoStar, Lightcast, and IMPLAN.
• Client-serving experience in the private or public sector.
