Buyer (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Simsbury, Connecticut, United States; onsite, full-time

What you will do

• Manage direct and indirect purchasing, alternative supplier sourcing, and delivery of materials and services for operations and engineering development.
• Create and manage supplier requests for quotation, purchase orders, and supply Kanbans.
• Assess supplier capability, conduct risk assessments, select and develop suppliers, negotiate terms, and manage purchase order follow-up.
• Plan schedules through ERP/MRP systems and resolve supplier delivery and quality issues.
• Represent procurement in new product proposals with Proposal Engineers and Development Engineering.
• Ensure purchasing, storage, and transportation activities comply with applicable regulations, FAR, DFARS, and CPSR requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of tactical purchasing or related experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
• Experience with low-volume R&D procurement and low- to medium-volume production procurement.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, ERP systems, FAR, DFARS, and government procurement documentation.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
• Detail-oriented, organized, independent, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects; willingness to travel 0–10% as needed.
