Buyer I (Manufacturing Procurement)

Location: Houston, TX (TAS-Cullen HQ), United States. Full-time onsite position; 80%–95% of the work is desk-based.

What you will do

• Manage purchasing activities for assigned engineered-to-order modular projects and commodities.
• Source suppliers, solicit and review quotations, support supplier prequalification, and recommend purchase decisions.
• Track supplier orders, delivery schedules, quality issues, recovery plans, and performance metrics.
• Reconcile bills of materials, planned orders, and purchase orders while resolving discrepancies with Configuration Management and Purchasing.
• Maintain supplier promise dates and material receipts in the ERP system and expedite orders when required.
• Escalate contractual risks, resolve receiving discrepancies, and maintain effective supplier relationships.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of purchasing or expediting experience in a custom-engineered or make-to-order manufacturing environment using ERP/MRP systems.
• Knowledge of materials management, purchasing methods, expediting procedures, and general manufacturing practices.
• Foundation-level knowledge of ERP/MRP principles and practices.
• Basic Excel and Microsoft Office Suite experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, teamwork, and ability to work under pressure.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma acceptable with appropriate industry experience.

Nice to have

• Infor/LN purchasing module experience.
• APICS CPIM certification.
• Experience purchasing MRO materials, electrical commodities and equipment, labor, or services.
• Contract review and interpretation experience.
