TL;DR
Dive Instructor/Expedition Crew (Marine Diving and Expedition Operations): Coordinating diving, snorkelling, safety training, equipment maintenance, and guest excursions aboard small expedition ships with an accent on marine safety, rescue training, and remote-location operations. Focus on conducting certified and introductory dives, managing water-activity risks, maintaining diving and vessel equipment, and providing safe, informative expedition experiences.

Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Full-time expedition rosters require commitments of up to 6 weeks for domestic voyages and up to 8 weeks for international voyages.

What you will do

  • Coordinate confined-water training for introductory dives and open-water dives for appropriately certified guests and crew.
  • Lead diving, snorkelling, and other water activities while maintaining guest and crew safety.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot diving, snorkelling, boat, compressor, and air-storage equipment, including logs, manuals, stocktakes, and condition reports.
  • Conduct snorkel rescue training for new crew members and support health and safety management during excursions.
  • Load and disembark guests, conduct pre-excursion risk assessments, and comply with site regulations, permits, and operational restrictions.
  • Provide logistical and safety information, support vessel turnarounds, and contribute to the overall cruise experience.

Requirements

  • PADI Dive Instructor qualification with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • First Aid and CPR certification and a valid passport.
  • Demonstrated experience in marine environments and remote locations.
  • Strong boat-handling knowledge, with guiding experience highly regarded.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, confident public speaking, and strong customer-service skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, make sound decisions, work under pressure, and use Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

  • Degree in Natural Sciences or another relevant discipline.
  • Strong boat-handling experience and a manual driver’s licence.
  • Guiding experience.
