TL;DR
Regional Permitting Manager (Central Region) (Solar): Managing the full permitting lifecycle for utility-scale solar, BESS, high-voltage, and O&M projects across the Central region with an accent on AHJ engagement, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional project coordination. Focus on developing permit strategies, resolving plan-check issues, assessing permitting risks, and coordinating complex federal, state, and local requirements across multiple concurrent projects.

Location: Remote to start, then full-time onsite in Denver, CO or Dallas, TX. Extensive travel of 50%+ within the Central region is required, with occasional national travel.

Salary: $114,173–$139,862 per year

What you will do

  • Manage permitting from strategy development and preconstruction due diligence through application, inspections, and final permit closeout.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate building, electrical, grading, SWPPP, CUP, fire, and other permit applications.
  • Act as the primary contact for federal, state, and local authorities, including building departments, fire marshals, and environmental agencies.
  • Coordinate plan-check responses, correction letters, resubmittals, inspections, and design-package reviews with engineering and field teams.
  • Track permitting schedules, costs, risks, and compliance obligations across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Support estimating, preconstruction, business development, project kickoffs, public meetings, and permit hearings.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in permitting, land use, or project development within utility-scale solar or EPC construction.
  • Hands-on experience permitting large-scale solar, BESS, or high-voltage projects from application through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of AHJ requirements and regulatory frameworks across the Midwest, South Central, and Southeast regions.
  • Experience with federal agencies including BLM, the Army Corps of Engineers, and USFWS, as well as state environmental agencies and local building departments.
  • Ability to interpret civil, electrical, and structural construction drawings and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with ERCOT/PUCT, Texas county permitting, Southeast utility commission processes, and Midwest rural AHJ environments.
