TL;DR
Senior Renewable Studies Engineer (Renewables): Performing electrical power system modeling and analysis for solar, wind, battery storage, and substation projects with an accent on short-circuit, load-flow, protection, dynamic, transient, harmonic, grounding, and interconnection studies. Focus on leading client-facing study scopes, establishing methodologies and best practices, supporting regulatory compliance, and guiding team members through complex renewable power system projects.

Location: Fully remote or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado; applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Perform electrical power system studies for solar, wind, battery storage, and substation projects.
  • Develop studies and reports covering short circuit, reactive power and load flow, arc flash, protection coordination, dynamic, transient, harmonic, interconnection, ampacity, and grounding analysis.
  • Review studies and perform QA/QC for renewable studies and electrical design teams.
  • Lead client-facing renewable system studies scopes and guide other team members.
  • Establish study templates, methodologies, and best practices, while serving as a subject-matter expert for at least one study software platform.
  • Provide regulatory compliance support through design, testing, commissioning, and occasional field troubleshooting or relay testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; an electric power option is preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
  • FE licensure required; PE licensure preferred.
  • Required proficiency with PowerFactory and ETAP for power system modeling and studies.
  • Effective written and oral communication, interpersonal, and people skills.
  • Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with EasyPower, SKM Power Tools, Aspen, WindMil, CAPE, CDEGS, WinIGS, PSSe, PSLF, Cymcap, or PSCAD.
  • Electric power engineering specialization and PE licensure.
