Senior Renewable Studies Engineer (Renewables)

Location: Fully remote or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado; applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, based on the Denver, Colorado labor market.

What you will do

• Perform electrical power system modeling and analysis for solar, wind, battery energy storage, substation, and collection-system projects.
• Develop studies and reports covering short circuit, reactive power and load flow, arc flash, protection coordination, dynamic, transient, harmonic, interconnection compliance, ampacity, and grounding analysis.
• Review studies and provide QA/QC support for renewable studies and design teams.
• Lead client-facing renewable system studies scopes and guide other team members.
• Establish study templates, methodologies, and best practices, while serving as a subject-matter expert for at least one study software platform.
• Provide regulatory compliance support from conceptual design through testing, commissioning, and occasional field troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; an electric power option is preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• FE licensure is required; PE licensure is preferred.
• Required experience with power system modeling software including PowerFactory and ETAP; experience with protection, arc flash, grounding, dynamic, transient, and cable ampacity tools is relevant.
• Effective written and oral communication, interpersonal, and people skills.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with EasyPower, SKM Power Tools, Aspen, WindMil, CAPE, CDEGS, WinIGS, PSS/E, PSLF, CymCap, or PSCAD.
• PE licensure and experience with detailed electrical design, relay testing, commissioning, SCADA, grounding, and equipment specifications.
