Focus on assessing permitting feasibility, resolving plan-check issues, coordinating federal and state agencies, and managing risks across multiple concurrent projects.

Location: Full-time onsite in San Diego, California; extensive travel of 50%+ within the West region is required.

Salary: $114,173–$139,862 per year.

What you will do

  • Manage the full permitting lifecycle for utility-scale solar, BESS, high-voltage, and O&M projects from strategy and application through closeout.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate building, electrical, grading, SWPPP, CUP, fire, and other permit applications.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for federal, state, and local authorities having jurisdiction, consultants, project teams, and project owners.
  • Coordinate plan checks, correction responses, resubmittals, inspections, hearings, and public meetings.
  • Assess permitting feasibility and provide timeline and cost input during preconstruction, estimating, and business development.
  • Identify permitting risks, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain accurate project records and status reports.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in permitting, land use, or project development in utility-scale solar or EPC construction.
  • Hands-on experience managing permitting for large-scale solar, BESS, or high-voltage projects from application through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of AHJ requirements and regulatory frameworks across California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico.
  • Experience with federal agencies including BLM, the Army Corps, and USFWS, as well as state environmental agencies and local building departments.
  • Ability to interpret civil, electrical, and structural construction drawings and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Significant federal land permitting experience with BLM and USFS.
  • California-specific environmental review experience with CEQA.
