Senior Product Safety Engineer, Renewable Energy

Location: Littleton, Massachusetts, USA; extensive on-site work at customer facilities and travel of up to 50% are required.

Salary: USD 100,000–125,000 per year

What you will do

• Independently evaluate inverters, battery energy storage systems, EV equipment, and power conversion equipment against applicable safety standards.
• Develop, coordinate, and execute test plans, including construction reviews and utility-interactive testing.
• Set up and operate equipment under test and specialized instruments such as power analyzers, oscilloscopes, load banks, EMI equipment, and environmental chambers.
• Prepare evaluation reports, project information, quotes, and preliminary design reviews while keeping clients informed.
• Conduct testing and data acceptance audits at customer manufacturing facilities.
• Interpret standards, resolve technical issues with clients, accreditors, and authorities, and support cross-training within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with at least 5 years of experience, or a master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with utility-interactive inverters, battery energy storage systems, EV switchgear, or power conversion equipment.
• Experience with U.S., Canadian, and international product safety standards, including ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC, and IEEE.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, time-management, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently, travel up to 50%, lift up to 30 pounds, and use hand and small power tools.

Nice to have

• Experience at a TIC or NRTL laboratory.
• Experience conducting data acceptance program audits.
