Regional Permitting Manager (East Region) (Solar)

Location: Full-time onsite in Edison, New Jersey, United States. The role requires 50%+ travel throughout the East region, with occasional national travel.

Salary: $114,173–$139,862 per year

What you will do

• Manage permitting strategy and execution from preconstruction due diligence through final permit closeout.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate building, electrical, grading, SWPPP, conditional use, fire, and other permit applications.
• Act as the primary contact for federal, state, and local authorities having jurisdiction, including building departments, fire marshals, and environmental agencies.
• Coordinate plan checks, correction responses, resubmittals, inspections, hearings, and public meetings.
• Assess permit feasibility and provide permitting timelines and cost input for proposals, budgets, and early-stage projects.
• Coordinate with engineering, scheduling, estimating, project management, and field teams while identifying and mitigating permitting risks.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in permitting, land use, or project development in utility-scale solar or EPC construction.
• Hands-on experience permitting large-scale solar, battery energy storage, or high-voltage projects from application through closeout.
• Strong knowledge of AHJ requirements and regulatory frameworks across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region.
• Experience with federal agencies, state environmental agencies, and county or local building departments.
• Ability to interpret civil, electrical, and structural construction drawings and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental studies, construction management, urban planning, or a related field.
• Familiarity with state-level siting boards, including NY Article 10/94-c and NJ SDAG, PUC processes, and dense Mid-Atlantic and Northeast AHJ environments.
