Laboratory Analyst I (Environmental Testing)

Location: Buffalo, NY, USA; must live within a commutable distance to Buffalo

Salary: USD 18–20 per hour, plus benefits

What you will do

• Prepare and analyze environmental samples using standard analytical techniques and EPA methodologies.
• Perform chemical analysis, calculations, data recording, and reporting of unusual test occurrences.
• Learn and operate complex instrumentation, including gas chromatography, GC/MS, atomic absorption, and ICP systems.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance, sample aliquoting and weighing, glassware washing, and laboratory housekeeping.
• Follow GMP/GLP, SOP, EHS, and quality assurance requirements while working under close supervision.
• Complete laboratory work safely, accurately, and within established time constraints.

Requirements

• BS degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience.
• One to two years of sample preparation or analytical experience preferred.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
• Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics, laboratory protocols, organization, problem solving, and written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, lift up to 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally, and work overtime when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience in an environmental laboratory.
• Experience with LIMS software.
• Experience with organic preparation, metals analysis, chromatography, radiochemistry, wet chemistry, or high- and low-resolution preparation and analysis.
