Senior Underwriting Specialist, Energy

Location: Toronto, Canada; primarily office-based

Salary: CAD $88,000–$133,000 base salary annually, plus eligibility for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Underwrite and manage an existing book of Energy risks and develop a pipeline of new business across Canada.
• Provide technical underwriting support across regions and exercise underwriting authority for Energy lines in Canada.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients and communicate hirify.global's value proposition.
• Analyze industry trends, market conditions and portfolio profitability to develop underwriting strategies.
• Build relationships with brokers, clients, distribution partners and zonal leadership.
• Mentor junior staff while maintaining governance, controls and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Energy industry experience and strong technical knowledge of Energy insurance lines.
• Preferred minimum of 10 years of insurance industry experience.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• Advanced knowledge of Energy products, policy forms, regulatory environments, market segmentation and portfolio management.
• Experience with major clients and complex risks, including broker relationships, sales, marketing and relationship building.
• Strong analytical, communication and decision-making skills, with willingness to travel 25% of the time.
