Location: Newark, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $65,000–$103,000 per year, based on experience and certification requirements. Additional performance-based pay of up to $7,000 annually may be available.

What you will do

• Create, adapt, internalize, and prepare lesson plans aligned with the academic curriculum and grade-level team planning.
• Use student data to teach academic skills to mastery and adjust instructional strategies.
• Monitor student progress, maintain performance trackers, and support diagnostic and progress-monitoring assessments.
• Build a supportive learning environment through collaboration with students, families, colleagues, and the wider school community.
• Establish classroom routines and apply effective classroom-management techniques.
• Participate in school, department, parent, and community events and meetings.

Requirements

• Subject-matter expertise in high school special education and a track record of success in the classroom.
• Demonstrated interest in working with students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
• Collaborative approach to teaching and learning, with a commitment to student achievement.
• Eligibility for a traditional New Jersey teaching certification is required.
• Either hold a valid traditional New Jersey teaching certification or meet the applicable GPA, Praxis, and transcript content-credit requirements.
• Meet the relevant GPA criteria: generally at least 3.0 for degrees conferred after September 2016, or at least 2.75 for degrees conferred before September 2016, with specified Praxis alternatives where applicable.
