Senior Automation Engineer (Industrial Automation)

Location: US-Airport A (TAS), United States; onsite full-time

hirify.global's TAS business engineers and manufactures packaged modular systems for data centers, power, and commercial and industrial utility applications from Houston-based manufacturing facilities.

What you will do

• Design, program, test, and commission industrial automation and control systems.
• Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, motion-control, and robotic applications.
• Lead automation projects from requirements gathering and system architecture through vendor coordination, installation, validation, startup, and production handoff.
• Troubleshoot control-system, instrumentation, electrical, and industrial network issues and implement improvements to safety, reliability, throughput, quality, and equipment availability.
• Develop control narratives, functional specifications, electrical drawings, network diagrams, technical documentation, and change-control standards.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, training, project estimating, capital planning, and contractor coordination while collaborating with operations, maintenance, IT, engineering, quality, and system integrators.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10 or more years of experience designing and supporting industrial automation systems.
• Advanced PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience developing HMI and SCADA applications with FactoryTalk, Ignition, WinCC, Wonderware, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, motor controls, variable-frequency drives, servos, robotics, industrial control panels, and industrial communication protocols including EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, PROFINET, or OPC UA.
• Working knowledge of electrical and machine-safety standards, with strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, documentation, communication, and project leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer, Functional Safety Units, CAP, or relevant vendor certification.
• Experience with robotics, machine vision, batch controls, process historians, manufacturing execution systems, or regulated and high-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ISA-88, ISA-95, IEC 61131-3, NFPA 70/79, industrial cybersecurity, validation, and change control.
• Knowledge of SQL, Python, C#, C++, PowerShell, or other scripting and data-analysis tools.
• Welding and NDE experience and training.
