Instrumentation & Controls Design Engineer (Entry Level) (Automation)

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; full-time onsite role

Salary: CAD 65,000–85,000 per year

What you will do

• Design basic-complexity automation systems for manufacturing processes, equipment, critical systems, and facility infrastructure.
• Prepare instrumentation specifications, data sheets, schematics, plan drawings, narratives, reports, and diagrams for construction.
• Perform sizing calculations, instrumentation and device selection, and other basic engineering calculations.
• Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, designers, clients, and external partners to deliver complete and constructible systems.
• Conduct field investigations and surveys to integrate designs with existing systems and structures.
• Support one or more projects across studies, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• 0–3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting.
• Fundamental knowledge of instrumentation and controls engineering calculations and control system design.
• Fundamental knowledge of electrical codes and cross-discipline project coordination.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Ability to interface with clients and external partners and work under the direction of an experienced engineer.

Nice to have

• Relevant design firm experience.
• Registration for or completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Experience conducting field surveys and supporting field reporting.
• Experience using BIM software and instrumentation and automation vendor platforms.
