Senior Engineer 1, Distribution Engineering Automation & Power Quality/Electric Magnetic Fields

Location: Santa Ana, California, US; hybrid work with required reporting to an SCE facility and residence in California. Up to 20% travel throughout the SCE service territory may be required. Relocation does not apply.

Salary: $143,900–$215,800 annually.

What you will do

• Lead process-excellence coordination across Distribution Engineering Automation hardware, software, power-quality/electromagnetic-fields, and field-support teams.
• Oversee engineering diagnostics, equipment monitoring and inspections, grid-technology reviews, and cross-functional knowledge transfer.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, project updates, findings, and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Coordinate the development, integration, and implementation of future technologies and asset-performance strategies.
• Support equipment installation and startup, lead handover to ramp and sustaining phases, and investigate distribution-system infrastructure threats.
• Gather and correlate engineering data, develop procedures and design recommendations, and facilitate team training and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematics field.
• Seven or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Experience or knowledge in distribution engineering, grid operations, automation, protection and control systems, communications, or utility operations.
• Ability to lead process improvement, project execution, stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, reporting, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Must generally work and reside in California; the position is hybrid and requires facility attendance. Must pass a NERC/CIP Personnel Risk Assessment or background investigation and complete required training before unescorted access.

Nice to have

• Experience with ADMS, OMS, DMS/SCADA, EMS, CYME, work-management platforms, or regulated infrastructure environments.
• Experience with Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, Tableau, SQL, Python, enterprise data platforms, dashboards, and time-series datasets.
• Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, SPC, continuous improvement, compliance, audit readiness, regulatory requirements, or risk management.
