TL;DR
Assistant General Counsel (Renewable Energy): Advising executive and cross-functional business teams on EPC, commercial, procurement, regulatory, risk management, and construction-related legal matters with an accent on complex contract negotiation, renewable energy projects, and corporate governance. Focus on drafting and negotiating EPC and construction agreements, managing claims and disputes, assessing legal risks, and developing scalable compliance and legal operations.

Location: Full-time onsite in San Diego, California or Denver, Colorado. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $205,396–$246,475 per year

What you will do

  • Advise executive leadership and cross-functional teams on commercial, operational, regulatory, and legal matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer complex EPC, construction, procurement, supply, O&M, real estate, customer, and service agreements.
  • Provide guidance on contract interpretation, change orders, claims management, and dispute avoidance.
  • Identify legal and commercial risks in new market opportunities and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Support compliance, corporate governance, entity management, organizational records, and scalable legal processes.
  • Coordinate construction and commercial claims, disputes, outside counsel, legal budgets, accruals, and matter management.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • 8–12+ years of legal experience, including significant experience at a nationally recognized law firm or sophisticated in-house legal department.
  • Experience in renewable energy, construction, infrastructure, project development, or related industries.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and construction-related contracts.
  • Managed other attorneys for at least 3 years, with strong judgment, integrity, organization, communication, negotiation, and business skills.
