Senior Counsel (Energy Law)

Location: Onsite in Rochester, New York, United States

Base salary: $164,000–$205,000 per year, depending on experience and location.

What you will do

• Advise internal stakeholders on FERC statutes, regulations, orders, and compliance requirements.
• Interpret NYISO market rules and Open Access Transmission Tariffs.
• Draft, review, and file FERC and NYISO applications, interventions, comments, compliance plans, and related regulatory documents.
• Track and respond to regulatory orders, notices, and information requests.
• Provide legal advice on NYISO market operations, policy changes, and market initiatives.
• Identify and mitigate regulatory and compliance risks related to energy market participation and project development.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• New York Bar admission.
• At least six years of experience practicing energy law, with a focus on federal regulation, FERC, or ISO/RTO operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of FERC regulations and ISO/RTO tariffs and protocols.
• Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
