Workers' Compensation Claim Specialist

Location: Lisle, Illinois, United States; two-day hybrid schedule with daily travel between locations and up to 10% overnight travel

What you will do

• Investigate and analyze high-complexity and high-severity workers’ compensation claims, including litigated files.
• Identify coverage, determine compensability, review legal pleadings, and communicate coverage issues.
• Collaborate with agents, policyholders, internal stakeholders, and legal counsel to manage claims.
• Develop action plans, evaluate damages, negotiate settlements, and conclude claims according to guidelines.
• Establish accurate reserves, engage external resources, and monitor claim-related costs.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement preventive solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education.
• At least 6 years of experience handling high-complexity and high-severity workers’ compensation indemnity claims.
• Ability to obtain appropriate state licensing as required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
• Ability to travel daily between locations and overnight up to 10%.
