Sr. Associate, Claims

Location: Hybrid role based in the Dallas, Texas or Chicago, Illinois office

Base compensation: $110,000–$140,000 annually, plus discretionary annual bonus and incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Manage third-party general liability claims from intake through resolution, including bodily injury, reputational harm, and contract-related incidents.
• Investigate incidents, evaluate liability, develop reserve strategies, and manage claim outcomes.
• Lead claim strategy and communication with portfolio companies, insurers, claim handlers, defense counsel, and third-party administrators.
• Escalate matters requiring legal oversight to in-house Legal or external counsel while managing claim deliverables.
• Coordinate litigation budgets, discovery, governance, and readiness activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• 7–10 years of general liability claim handling experience, including at least 3 years focused on commercial real estate exposures.
• Strong knowledge of general liability policy terms, additional insureds, indemnity agreements, and legal defense strategies.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to manage adversarial and sensitive conversations.
• Ability to collaborate across Legal, Risk, and Operations functions.
• Experience with RMIS platforms such as Origami Risk and Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Experience on the carrier or claim-handler side and familiarity with insurer operations.
• Experience coordinating with defense counsel, managing litigation budgets, and supporting discovery.
• Knowledge of contract risk transfer, indemnity structures, and tenant or vendor insurance obligations.
• Exposure to high-severity claims or reputational incidents across diverse property types.
