Staff Reliability Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure)

Location: Secaucus, NJ, United States; onsite

Salary: $105,000–$154,000 per year, plus potential bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Evaluate, design, and implement software and product reliability test regimens for cloud hardware.
• Apply Design for Reliability principles to ensure servers meet specified use conditions, stresses, and reliability goals.
• Act as an internal reliability consultant and collaborate with program management, vendors, design engineering, and customers.
• Develop scripts representing expected operating environments and conditions.
• Collect, analyze, and manage reliability data to minimize failures and improve product performance and maintainability.
• Create and revise reliability engineering guidelines and support design enhancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or software development.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of computer systems and hardware structures, including switch and network interfaces.
• Programming experience with Python or Unix scripting, including Bash and/or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of statistical and probability techniques and reliability modeling.
• Ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead cross-functional issue resolution.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of computer and server architecture and hardware, firmware, and operating-system interactions.
• Experience with PCBA design, fabrication, and validation testing.
• Experience with ReliaSoft and JMP.
• Knowledge of electronic component failure modes and mechanisms and standards such as IPC, JEDEC, Telcordia, and MIL-STD.
