TL;DR
Reliability Engineer (Nuclear Hardware): Designing and leading reliability test campaigns for nuclear fuel enrichment hardware with an accent on accelerated life testing, applied statistics, failure analysis, and reliability modeling. Focus on defining reliability requirements, analyzing life and field data, driving root-cause investigations, and building a reliability test capability from the ground up.

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 annually

Company

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates low-cost uranium enrichment services in the United States to support nuclear fuel production for advanced reactors and critical industries.

What you will do

  • Design and lead accelerated life, life-leader, and component reliability test campaigns across hardware systems.
  • Develop reliability test plans that map applied stresses to field conditions using acceleration models.
  • Perform statistical analyses to determine sample sizes, test durations, confidence levels, and reliability targets.
  • Define reliability requirements and maintain FMEA/FMECA, reliability block diagrams, fault trees, reliability models, and life predictions.
  • Analyze test and field data, characterize failure modes, lead root-cause investigations, and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Partner with test engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality to embed design-for-reliability practices throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Reliability, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience designing and executing reliability test campaigns, such as accelerated life testing, HALT/HASS, durability, or component reliability testing.
  • Strong applied statistics, including Weibull and life-data analysis, reliability demonstration testing, sample-size determination, design of experiments, confidence intervals, and acceleration modeling.
  • Proficiency with reliability and statistical tools such as ReliaSoft Weibull++/ALTA, Minitab, JMP, Python, or R.
  • Experience with FMEA/FMECA and reliability modeling, alongside strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.

Nice to have

  • Experience in automotive, aerospace and defense, semiconductor, industrial equipment, or energy industries.
  • Experience building a reliability program or test capability from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with physics-of-failure methods and accelerated stress modeling.
  • Certified Reliability Engineer certification, advanced degrees, or evidence of exceptional ability through projects or completed products.

Culture & Benefits

  • Mission-driven work focused on making nuclear energy more affordable.
  • First-principles engineering culture with urgency, accountability, and transparency.
  • Full-time hires may be eligible for stock options and long-term incentives.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage may be available.
  • Access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
