TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer III (Aerospace): Developing and improving manufacturing plans, tooling, and production processes for complex mechanical and electromechanical aerospace components with an accent on manufacturability, machining, assembly, and quality. Focus on designing fixtures and jigs, troubleshooting process and assembly problems, performing root-cause analysis, and reducing production cycle times while maintaining compliance with aerospace standards.

Location: 100% onsite in Inglewood, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR requirements and must meet U.S. employment eligibility requirements.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year, based on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

  • Review customer engineering requirements and drawings for manufacturability and create manufacturing plans and bills of material.
  • Troubleshoot assembly, machining, and production-process issues while supporting customer quality and cost objectives.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, consistency, accuracy, and cycle times through new processes, materials, equipment, and methods.
  • Design and deploy tooling, fixtures, and jigs for assembly and production processes.
  • Prepare engineering changes, analyses, reports, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production personnel, supervisors, management, suppliers, and equipment vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing, FSDA, machining and fabrication of complex metallic components, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, procedures, GD&T, MIL-STD documents, and ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, NC machine programming, materials and metals processing, heat treatment, coatings, measurement, and inspection.
  • Experience creating manufacturing plans, designing assembly tooling, and writing engineering reports with analyses and results.
  • Fluent English reading and writing skills and U.S. person status under ITAR are required.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Digital Product Definition, Model-Based Definition, or Manufacturing Readiness Assessment.
  • CAD experience with CATIA or Creo.
