Sr. Staff Manufacturing IT Systems Engineer (Linux/VMware)

Location: Secaucus, New Jersey, United States; onsite

Salary: $124,500–$166,000 annually, plus potential bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect, implement, and maintain highly available Linux and Windows server platforms across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
• Manage VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM hypervisors together with SAN, NAS, and object storage platforms.
• Design and operate HashiCorp Consul, Nomad, Vault, and Boundary in production.
• Standardize configuration management with Ansible and infrastructure provisioning with Terraform, including modules, workspaces, and policy as code.
• Build Python, Bash, and PowerShell automation, integrate APIs, improve observability, and reduce operational toil.
• Monitor critical systems, support migrations and deployments, manage vendors, tune infrastructure, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 8+ years of enterprise systems engineering experience, or a master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
• 8+ years of Linux experience and 8+ years of VMware or virtual server experience, including vSphere, vMotion, and VMware management.
• 4+ years of DevOps experience and 4+ years of Ansible experience.
• Working proficiency in Python, with knowledge of APIs, public cloud solutions, YAML, and infrastructure automation.
• Advanced Active Directory knowledge, including Group Policy, replication, DNS, and user and group management, plus modern networking fundamentals.
• Experience with enterprise storage, backup, disaster recovery, high availability, information security, and technical documentation.
