Senior Systems Engineer - Monitoring

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States. The role includes up to 10% travel and after-hours support through an on-call rotation.

Annual salary: $110,000–$125,000.

What you will do

• Lead the implementation, maintenance, optimization, and full lifecycle management of enterprise monitoring platforms.
• Assess infrastructure performance and configuration data, tune alerts, identify vulnerabilities, and improve monitoring coverage.
• Design and implement resilient infrastructure solutions across on-premises systems, cloud environments, applications, virtualization, storage, and networks.
• Develop automation and self-service capabilities using PowerShell and other scripting or orchestration tools.
• Resolve complex incidents, support disaster recovery and system reliability, and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors while providing technical documentation, mentoring, and guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in CIS, MIS, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of industry experience, preferably in an enterprise environment.
• Experience owning and administering enterprise monitoring platforms, including requirements definition, design, implementation, onboarding, configuration management, alert tuning, and continuous improvement.
• Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux systems, virtualization platforms, SAN storage, network components, cloud environments, end-user experience monitoring, and APM tools.
• Strong understanding of observability data types, including metrics, logs, traces, and events, and their use in troubleshooting and performance analysis.
