Field Engineer II (HVAC)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States (TAS-Cullen HQ); the role involves approximately 80% domestic and international travel to job sites.

What you will do

• Commission mechanical and electrical portions of projects and direct field commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot, repair, retrofit, start up, and perform preventive maintenance on pumps, cooling towers, chillers, variable frequency drives, motors, motor control centers, and power distribution systems.
• Compile O&M information, support final IOM manuals, and transmit critical operating and maintenance information during project design and construction.
• Create red-line drawings, document commissioning procedures, and provide field feedback to project management.
• Coordinate hand-offs from construction and collaborate with project, engineering, production, quality, service, and client personnel.
• Support assembly and factory training, quality assurance, and quality control checks.

Requirements

• Significant project field experience in construction support, startup, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to read drawings and schematics and work independently at job sites.
• Experience verifying compliance with ASHRAE, ASME, and other relevant codes and practices.
• Exposure to at least one PLC or building-controls platform.
• Ability to work in field construction conditions and travel extensively to domestic and international sites.
• Safe driving record and ability to obtain applicable safety certifications, including OSHA 10 General Construction and NFPA 70E.

Nice to have

• HVAC trade school or apprenticeship training.
• Military training or technical work experience in lieu of trade school certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project.
