Facility Maintenance Technician I

Location: Onsite in Anchorage, Alaska, with travel to rural communities throughout the state; remote work is not eligible. The role may require up to 50% travel, several-day assignments, small-aircraft travel, on-call shifts, and work in harsh Arctic conditions.

What you will do

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs at company facilities across Alaska.
• Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, generators, batteries, UPS systems, rectifiers, fire suppression, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
• Support the availability of facility infrastructure and, when required, perform routine maintenance on core network equipment.
• Monitor equipment platforms, alarms, work orders, and maintenance schedules; troubleshoot issues and provide phone support to field technicians.
• Coordinate with vendors, open and track corrective tickets, inventory supplies, and document maintenance activities.
• Maintain safe, compliant, clean, and operational facilities, including seasonal grounds and snow-removal tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least four years of experience in facility operations, maintenance, telecommunications technical work, or a related field; relevant education or experience may substitute year for year.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, generators, batteries, light carpentry, AC/DC power systems, electrical wiring, and telecommunications facilities.
• Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, satisfactory driving record, and ability to complete Defensive Driving training.
• Ability to travel to rural Alaskan communities for several days and work in adverse weather; up to 50% travel may be required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, holidays, evenings, and on-call shifts; DOT medical certification and drug testing may be required.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in electronics or a related mechanical, HVAC, electrical, or vocational/military program.
• Telecommunications experience and relevant industry or job-specific certifications.
• Specialization in HVAC, AC/DC power systems, generators, and structures housing remote telecommunications equipment.
