Senior Commissioning Project Manager (Solar & BESS)

Location: Remote within the United States, with required travel across the Midwest and to project sites. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $128,230–$160,287 per year

What you will do

• Lead integrated commissioning delivery across four to five concurrent utility-scale EPC projects, covering PV, high-voltage, BESS, SCADA/controls, communications, utility, and O&M interfaces.
• Establish commissioning strategies, execution models, readiness gates, milestone plans, governance cadences, and escalation pathways.
• Manage portfolio-level scope, schedule, resources, costs, risks, changes, contractual commitments, documentation, and commercial milestones.
• Coordinate commissioning project managers, field teams, engineers, construction, quality, safety, OEMs, utilities, customers, and third-party providers.
• Direct readiness reviews, energization, switching, LOTO, pre-commissioning, functional, synchronization, performance, reliability, and acceptance testing.
• Lead issue resolution, recovery planning, customer and executive reporting, turnover, closeout, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in commissioning, startup, testing, construction, operations, engineering, or project delivery for utility-scale electrical facilities.
• Minimum 5 years leading complex commissioning or project-delivery activities across multiple concurrent projects or technical scopes.
• Advanced knowledge of utility-scale commissioning, including PV, high-voltage substations, BESS, SCADA/communications, utility interfaces, and electrical testing.
• Strong project and portfolio management skills covering scope, schedule, resources, cost, risk, quality, stakeholders, contracts, changes, and documentation.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence without direct authority, resolve complex issues, and communicate with executives and customers.
• Valid driver's license, ability to satisfy project access requirements, travel availability, and ability to work outdoors, around energized systems, and varied hours when required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or a related discipline.
• PMP, Certified Construction Manager, NETA certification, electrical license, or another relevant credential.
• Experience with EPC contracts, utility interconnection, P6 scheduling, project controls, change management, cost forecasting, witness testing, and executive customer reporting.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or supervising commissioning project managers or technical project leaders.
