Senior Project Manager (Utility-Scale Solar PV & BESS)

Location: Nairobi, Kenya; project delivery in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and remote construction environments

What you will do

• Own end-to-end delivery of a utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage project from financial close through commercial operation.
• Coordinate EPC contractors, the Owner’s Engineer, suppliers, government authorities, utilities, regulators, and internal teams.
• Lead construction supervision, logistics, commissioning, performance testing, and commercial operation handover.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, EPC contracts, contractor claims, risks, and contractual performance guarantees.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering, construction, procurement, and commissioning teams in a frontier-market environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or renewable energy engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience managing large infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
• Experience leading project managers on at least three renewable energy projects exceeding 30 MW, including at least one solar PV project exceeding 100 MW.
• Experience delivering hybrid utility-scale projects incorporating solar PV, BESS, diesel generation, and EMS.
• Direct experience with EPC contract management, construction supervision, FAT/SAT coordination, commissioning management, and commercial operation handover.
• Strong knowledge of SCADA, EMS, grid interconnection, substations, electrical balance of plant, and renewable project performance testing.

Nice to have

• PMP certification or Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer registration.
• Experience delivering projects in emerging-market environments.
• Knowledge of PVsyst, ETAP, PSSE, or PSCAD.
