HVAC Sheet Metal Apprentice II

Location: Birmingham, AL (CSUSA-Mid South HQ); full-time onsite work with travel to assigned job sites and occasional overnight stays as required.

What you will do

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair commercial HVAC sheet metal systems.
• Install ductwork, control boxes, drainpipes, air terminal units, rooftop units, split systems, and related HVAC components.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install sheet metal using hand and power tools.
• Read blueprints, shop drawings, and installation details under the guidance of experienced sheet metal mechanics.
• Collaborate with mechanics, foremen, project managers, and other trade partners.
• Maintain organized work areas and follow SMACNA standards, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of commercial HVAC sheet metal experience or equivalent trade school/apprenticeship experience.
• Basic understanding of commercial sheet metal fabrication and installation practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, follow instructions, read a tape measure, and perform basic measurements.
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week, with overtime as project schedules require.
• Reliable transportation to assigned job sites, a valid driver's license, and the ability to meet company driver qualification policies.
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and pre-employment fitness test; ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with SMACNA installation standards.
• Experience using power tools.
