Mechanical Engineer, Journeyman

Salary: $90,000–$125,000 per year

What you will do

• Research, develop, design, manufacture, install, operate, maintain, and test mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes.
• Support power-producing equipment, including electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines.
• Develop power-using equipment such as refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, machine tools, material handling systems, industrial production equipment, and manufacturing robots.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Specify system components and modify designs to meet engineering, performance, and environmental requirements.
• Investigate equipment failures, diagnose faulty operation, recommend corrective actions, and provide technical information to engineers and other personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least three years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software and structural and thermal analysis tools.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection, and design for manufacturability.
• Experience with systems engineering frameworks and reviews, including System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, and Critical Design Review.
• Experience designing, developing, installing, and maintaining rackmounted communications systems, including aircraft- and ship-based equipment.
• U.S. citizenship, eligibility for access to classified information, and an active Secret Security Clearance are required.
