Focus on directing technical teams, recovering from mechanism and structural failures, presenting design reviews, and delivering robust satellite hardware for orbit.

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $142,000–$189,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead a mechanical engineering team responsible for spacecraft, subsystems, structures, mechanisms, and interfaces.
  • Deliver mechanical designs from requirements definition and architecture trades through analysis, manufacturing, assembly, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
  • Develop and review mechanical, structural, thermal, electronics-packaging, deployable, and actuated-structure designs.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces and cross-functional alignment with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
  • Mentor and develop engineers while supporting spacecraft team leadership and technical decision-making.
  • Present engineering design reviews to customers and executives and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 11 years of experience designing communications satellite structures and mechanisms across the full development lifecycle.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading technical teams, with ownership of one or more full mechanical development cycles at the space-vehicle level.
  • Experience with mechanics of materials, hand calculations, architectural trade studies, structural and thermal analysis review, and parametric cost and physical analysis.
  • Experience with CAD and FEA tools such as SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys, and Nastran, plus CNC manufacturing and GD&T.
  • Hands-on experience with spacecraft AI&T and environmental test campaigns including vibration, shock, and TVAC.

Nice to have

  • Experience across LEO, GEO, and beyond, ranging from CubeSats and SmallSats to large GEO satellites.
  • Python or other scripting experience.
  • Experience with multiple spacecraft structural and mechanical architectures.
