Senior Engineer, Database Administration (MS SQL)

Location: Bethlehem, United States; onsite full-time

Salary: $99,150–$162,885 per year, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Define enterprise Microsoft SQL Server architecture standards and design scalable, secure, and highly available database solutions.
• Lead database modernization, migration, cloud adoption, and platform transformation initiatives across on-premises and AWS environments.
• Administer SQL Server installations, upgrades, patching, Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Diagnose complex performance issues, optimize queries and indexes, analyze execution plans, and perform capacity planning.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, PowerShell, SQL scripting, monitoring, automated remediation, and self-healing capabilities.
• Provide technical governance, incident response leadership, audit support, and mentorship to junior DBAs and Database Engineers.

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of Microsoft SQL Server administration experience and 5+ years of enterprise database architecture experience.
• Expertise in SQL Server 2019, 2022, and 2025; Always On Availability Groups; clustering; replication; backup and recovery; performance tuning; security; and compliance.
• Strong T-SQL, query optimization, SQL Server storage engine, SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server Management Studio, PowerShell, SDLC, DevOps, and change management knowledge.
• Experience supporting large-scale business-critical database environments with strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• AWS experience with RDS, EC2, Aurora, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
• Experience with Terraform, GitHub, Bitbucket, Jenkins, or other CI/CD platforms.
• Knowledge of containerized database deployments, Kubernetes, Foglight, or Zenoss.
