IT Database Administrator Sr. (Microsoft SQL)

Location: Hybrid role based in Irvine, California, United States. Up to 10% domestic and international travel may be required. Valid authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Salary: $104,000–$174,000 per year, with potential discretionary bonuses and incentives.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, maintain, manage, tune, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server environments hosted on-premises and in Azure IaaS/PaaS.
• Install and upgrade SQL Server on Windows-based systems, manage access, and maintain infrastructure security and stability.
• Coordinate daily operations, apply security patches and hotfixes, and provide operational support and escalation coverage.
• Design and implement globally distributed SQL Server services, including maintenance plans, backups, upgrades, performance monitoring, tuning, and migrations.
• Work with stakeholders and technical teams to gather requirements and present enterprise or application-specific solutions.
• Create technical documentation and support internal and external audits for Microsoft SQL Server environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of enterprise experience as a Microsoft SQL Server database administrator, including SQL Server 2019 or later.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server architecture, implementation, configuration, high availability, and fault-tolerance technologies.
• Experience creating, customizing, debugging, and deploying PowerShell and T-SQL scripts.
• Experience working in large, distributed enterprise computing environments with 24/7/365 availability.
• Familiarity with VMware, Azure SQL database operations, Azure IaaS/PaaS solutions, and storage subsystems.
• Fluent written and spoken English is required for documentation, presentations, and collaboration.

Nice to have

• 2+ years of Azure SQL database operations experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or Microsoft SQL certifications.
• Microsoft Windows Server support certifications.
