Lead Database Engineer

Location: USA-WI-Corporate Headquarters; full-time onsite role

What you will do

• Define and maintain the strategy, standards, and operating model for relational and non-relational data stores supporting hirify.global ONE.
• Establish standards for data modeling, schema design, migrations, indexing, query patterns, retention, backup, recovery, and lifecycle management.
• Guide architecture and service-to-data-store integration decisions to improve scalability, consistency, and maintainability.
• Define high availability, disaster recovery, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and business continuity practices.
• Lead troubleshooting of complex performance, stability, capacity, and recoverability issues, partnering with DevOps and platform teams on automation.
• Define secure data-management practices, support SOC 2 and ISO 27001 audit readiness, document operational guidance, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in database engineering, DBA, or data platform roles supporting production systems.
• Strong foundations in data modeling, SQL, performance tuning, reliability, backup and restore, and disaster recovery.
• Experience establishing standards and operating practices in a growing product or platform environment.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite at the USA-WI corporate headquarters.

Nice to have

• Experience with GCP managed data services and analytics warehouses such as BigQuery.
• Experience with document, key-value, time-series, or other non-relational data stores.
• Experience integrating data-store changes into CI/CD and audited environments.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly in production.
