TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Chemical Facilities): Designing electrical systems for industrial chemical facilities with an accent on power distribution, electrical studies, equipment specification, and plant support. Focus on developing power delivery designs, troubleshooting electrical systems, supporting startups and turnarounds, and coordinating electrical work across complex projects.

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, USA; onsite full-time role with 20–25% travel and onsite work during project execution, plant turnarounds, and startups.

What you will do

  • Design electrical systems for industrial chemical facilities, including power distribution, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details.
  • Perform short-circuit, arc-flash, and power studies for existing facilities and new projects.
  • Develop electrical plans and specifications for small, medium-sized, and complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Size wiring, transformers, cables, feeders, cable trays, and related electrical equipment; specify MCCs, switchgear, and transformers.
  • Support plant operations by troubleshooting electrical and signal issues, implementing design changes, and providing startup and turnaround guidance.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, inspectors, project personnel, and other engineering disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Knowledge of electrical design fundamentals and power delivery systems for chemical or industrial facilities, including grounding, lighting, wiring, schematics, panel layouts, heat trace, cable schedules, and cable tray.
  • Knowledge of ETAP or equivalent software for power, short-circuit, and arc-flash studies.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 496, 497, 655, 70B, 70E, and IECC codes and standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple project timelines, control scope, lead contractors, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; willingness to travel 20–25% of the time.

Nice to have

  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Navisworks Freedom experience.
  • Knowledge of Siemens PCS-7, OPTO 22, or APACS systems.
