Automation Engineer II (Instrumentation and Controls)

What you will do

• Design automation, instrumentation, and controls systems of moderate complexity.
• Prepare narratives, reports, drawings, diagrams, and construction documentation.
• Perform control element sizing, instrumentation selection, and other engineering calculations.
• Conduct field investigations and integrate new designs with existing systems.
• Coordinate design work with architects, engineers, vendors, and construction partners.
• Support and lead small projects across programming, planning, detailed design, construction documentation, and administration while mentoring entry-level staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of engineering experience, preferably in a design firm.
• Experience with instrumentation and controls engineering calculations.
• Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Working knowledge of electrical codes, building codes, and applicable industry standards.
• Strong coordination skills and the ability to perform design calculations under senior-engineer guidance.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
• FE exam registration or completion.
• Familiarity with control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, and field wiring plans.
